I have just bought a doll from ebay,the paint was so thick and powdery white,the head was rooted,but thick paint on scalp also.I applied with a paint brush,then using a baby soft toothbrush gently rubbed it off,its best to dip toothbrush in warm soapy water when rubbing off.I took a chance and also removed the thick paint from the scalp,this did no damage at all to the hair or the eyelashes as they were clumped with paint and glue,sounds scary,but it worked amazingly,baby didnt become shiny,she just looks great and now ready to be repainted.PLEASE wear GLOVES as this can burn skin,cheap clear plastic gloves,that you would get in a hair dye kit,they are cheap to buy,latex are no good.Place should be very well ventilated,i did this outside.Dolls with eyes should be taped over to avoid this stripper causing any damage.

Try "Goof Off" CONCENTRATE ((in a can at Lowe's). I've NEVER seen anything work better or easier with no side effects.

Stripping paint

Well if the acetone does'nt do the trick; then use "Goof off" but open a window & use heavy gloves as strong stuff & odor & then wash doll well with soap & water. I usually just use it as takes very little & saves time with all the rubbing.

I found that brush cleaner that you find in an arts and craft store will work really well and not leave the doll shiny.

The best I have found for stripping a doll is acetone.
