What is the strongest fabric body, so a reborn doll can be played with?

What is the strongest fabric available for a reborn body? I have three customers who are looking for play reborn dolls. To be able to have them changed (diapers and clothes) everyday, played with by older children, handled a lot, and generally played with like a play doll or a real baby.

Thank you to anyone who can help,

Fabric for bodies
by: Roxan

I have made the bodies out of a variety of fabrics. Pretty much any type can be used as long as it's not to stiff.

The faux seude that they sell works good and it doesn't stretch as much. It is also very strong because I made a slipcover for my dogs pillow out of this fabric and it has taken a lot of abuse from the dogs scratching it and it has never tore.

Hope this helps.

Faux Suede Body
by: Anonymous

I made a body from a faux suede for my grandaughter's doll and it has been loved a lot. The body is still as good as new and the doll has held it's shape.
The pattern came from... prillycharmin and is easy to do.
Hope this helps.

bodys for play dolls

If the fabric to too thick and stiff it would be hard to make the channels of fabric where you put the zip ties gather around the limbs. I think you should experiment with different weights and types of material. Commercial dolls are made with pretty cheap material like thin cotton. I would go with a light skin colored curtain suede its strong but not so heavy it won't fold softly around the limbs. I also think a child would like the warm fuzzy feeling.

strong body.
by: marlene

After buying bodies that came apart or did not look like a babies real body I got a pattern from ebay and started making my own. I use a heavy pink flannel. I also bought some fabric that was for drapes that is like a heavy doe suede in a beigh but have not made one yet. They are really easy to do if you sew at all.

BODY

I'm not sure what fabric it is, but I bought a body for my Pooky baby and it's like none I have ever seen. I wish I hadn't put her together because there might have been a slip stating what it is, but I bought it from Dolls So Real You might ask them what the material is.

doe suede stretches though

Doe suede still stretches and also be torn fairly easily. I'm talking about STRONG fabric, like maybe denim or something like that.

I just got a pattern from a friend in the mail & I am thinking that stretch cotton would be nice in a pink color. Doe suade is nice to, but would have to order.
