What is the honeycomb technique in reborning dolls?

I've just heard the term "honeycomb technique." Please explain the technique in reborning dolls. I would like to know what is meant by the honeycomb effect and just how it's done. Thank you.

I use the yellow soft sponge called artist sponge by Royal Langnickel & like it best, but what I do is paint thick soupy with a brush & blot some off with cosmetic sponge until looks smooth & let it dry & then go over it with the yellow sponge in a rolling motion gently with thinner on it & let it dry again...this is what I call honey combing? almost leaves little pores.

Okay..this was something I wanted to find out about too. I was thinking it must be something that gives the skin a texture of somesort. Then I found out what it was...get this....mottling with a sponge!! Who would have guessed. :o)
