What do I do with a Peach reborn doll kit vs. a Pink kit?

by Lisa
(USA)

I bought a reborn doll kit that did not indicate it was a peach kit. Is there a special wash or prep I will need to do for a peach kit vs. a pink kit? Is there a benefit to buying one over the other? Thanks for all the help!

peach kits
by: Sandy

I haven't tried the Earth Mint Green on the peach kits but I have used a blue or purple internal wash with good results. This works well on a small or preemie baby that needs a little bluer tone. Otherwise, the peach does work well on an "older" baby.

Well, appreciate sweet comment & I have'nt been reborning but almost a year & had experience painting with oils & restoring dolls, but find little things with every baby & always glad to share; what other sweet ladies have shared with me. The doll making girls are a great bunch of artist! I have met so many wonderful ladies & you are one of them!

Thanks Again!

Sherri, you are too kind to help me out, and now I know I'm heading in the right direction because the mix you spoke of, I just did that on my most recent baby, and I loved the look it gave the "flesh". I have a long way to go and much to learn before I will be able to create the beautiful babies you do, but I am honored that you took the time to share with me. Thank you :)

Flesh layers
by: sherri Keller'Woo

I will tell you something that I have discovered lately that speeds the process along is a layer of the "Baby Flesh" premix from bountiful. Don't use it alone, but maybe on 2nd or 3rd flesh layer. I always blush a little between flesh layers & work on creases gradually too when blushing. Very thin layers until it looks like flesh is the key, and as many as it takes.

Peach
by: Sherri Keller'Woo

No, I used to oil paint & always started with a light canvas & still do that with the peach, but it seems to just take fewer layers to get a nice flesh tone than the pink. I even add white for light caucasian baby to my first flesh layer mixed with flesh 8. Just less work to me with the peach.

Thank you!

Thank you so much for responding back so quickly. It seems like a lot of the newer kits only come in a newborn pink color, so when I saw it was peach, I wasn't sure where to begin. I had read about the washes that Sherri had mentioned and didn't know if I should begin with that. One more question, when you say just add your colors, does that mean I do not need to add a light base flesh color, I just start with the darker flesh color and blushing to create a newborn look?

Peach color vynil
by: Sherri Keller'Woo

Good then I'm not imagining it that the peach seems easier to get the flesh color. So see, you got the best kit! Occasionally get a real orange kit & that's different than the peach & has to have a green wash to get a nice flesh tone out of it; has that dk orange look.

vinyl kit colors

sherrie, i was going to say the same thing. especially if you are using the genesis heat set paints the peach is almost like having a starter flesh tone, just add your colors to it.

Vynil colors
by: Sherri Keller'Woo

To me there is'nt that much difference, but I prefere the peach, as easier to get that peaches & cream look & sometimes the pinks are really more difficult to get the right skin tone. If it is real orange that's different than the peach & use that mint green wash on it. I almost always order the peach.
