Shay formerly known as Cherish is a limited edition #225 of #350 reborn doll sculpt by Shawna Clymer. She is the cutest little fairy doll with pointed ears, auburn hair and green eyes. She weighs 1 lb. 8 ozs. and is 14 " in length. I really enjoyed reborning this little imp and I felt she was a real challenge because of her small size.
She has been painted with multiple layers of Genisis heat set paint, complete with subtle veining, mottling, and shading in her litle creases and wrinkles to give her a translucent baby complexion. Her nostrils have been shaded to give the appearance of depth, and her nails have that just clipped look complete with lunae and sealed with a clear glaze for protection. I have applied glaze to her nostrils, inside her ears, and on her lips and tongue to give them that moist appearance that real babies have. Her hair was hand rooted with premium auburn mohair with a #42 gauge rooting needle which picks up 1-3 hairs at a time. Shay has 3/4 legs and arms and a fully pose able doe skin body stuffed with fiberfill and weighted with glass beads.
Her outfit complete with wings was modified from a porcelain fairy doll. It is a filmy blue, pink, and lavender creation with multicolor silk flowers on the bodice and a net petti coat. White bloomers are underneath her dress. I made her head dress with pink, yellow, and lavendar silk flowers and greenery complete with streamers of yellow, pink, and lavender ribbion. Shay's wings are pink with silver veining and attached to the back of the dress with velcro. She will be listed on Ebay later this week and will arrive to her new mom in a brown wicker basket decorated with pink, yellow, and lavender flowers and handmade lavender cushion.
I made her for our local Medieval Festival where I sell porcelain fairy dolls for six weekends every summer. People thought she was a real baby and were upset because I had brought a new baby out in the 90 degree plus weather. I was very pleased with their reactions.
