Sep 13, 2009 Rating THANK YOU BOTH by: Anonymous MY MOTHER HAS DEMENTIA WHICH IS A FORM OF ALZHEIMERS AND I FIND HER HOLDING AND TALKING AND SMILING SO MUCH AT THE REBORNS THAT I HAVE COVERING THIS ROOM FROM ONE SIDE TO THE OTHER. I DREAD THE TIME THAT I KNOW IS COMING. IT'S NOT FAIR THAT PEOPLE CAN'T EXPERIENCE CERTAIN THINGS THAT OTHER'S TAKE FOR GRANTED. IT JUST HURTS WHEN IT IS SO CLOSE TO YOU.

I have a friend who's grandmother was in a resthome in Scotland suffering with alzheimer's disease for many years. My friend over the years bought her granny 4 different reborn babies. Always the same sculpt to replace the well-worn ones. It soothed her grandmother and helped with her depression and anxieties. The other people in the home would come to her room to see 'how the baby was doing today' and even comment that it had grown since they last saw it!

Sep 11, 2009 Rating What Mentally handicapped people miss out on in life! by: Sherri Keller'Woo That is lovely & I make reborn dolls & my son has a mental handicap that was severe in his teens & stable now at 39, but still would be unable to cope with marriage & will never drive a car, or have children & people do not always realize that most of the special people do know what they are missing & over time they get over the anger of being different, but still would like to at least feel the sensation in some other way. Like my son loves Wii & games that he drives a car & it is no different with a womans natural desire to mother something. I feel my mother kick in when I hold my reborn dolls; even though I know I made it! Its art that feels good to touch. Wonderful story!
