Reborn babies bring health benefits

I am a care worker,I take my reborn babies into work on a regular basis,my residents have a variety of disabilities,from dementia to parkinsons etc..My reborn dolls give incredible comfort and unbelievable affects,for example people become very calm and relaxed when holding them,shaking seems to subside and the joy they bring to these ladies and men may I add,is wonderful,when the residents know the reborn babies are coming in they really get excited about it,of course I always remind them these are not real babies,but to them they are just beautiful bundles of joy.To some staff I'm either mad or sad,all I know is they bring lots of happiness to myself and others,they are incredible works of pure art made with love and care.

People collect all sorts of things,dolls,teddies an so on,when I say to people I collect reborn babies,some have said how sick I must be,maybe I am, but they bring so much joy to lots of people of all ages.I will be making my own reborn for the home after the new year,imagine what people will say to that ;-0

The comments i have read so far have made me feel confident now and i no longer feel i might be a bit odd [as people put it] even though i dont hide my babies away an show them to all,deep down i was starting to think what is wrong with me? I suffer from anxiety due to a bad childhood,i have never found relaxing easy,ive never found i passion until now,i dont know why i feel this towards my babies,but i just cant help it,my daughter dislikes them,but my son who has Downs Syndrome loves them.I want to say thank you to this site,because now i feel i belong somewhere with people that wont judge me or tell me im lacking something in my life,why do people have to excuse what i do,this often leads me to doubt myself.A MASSIVE THANK YOU to all the artist out there,each baby is made with love,patience and pure passion for this incredible art,can also add the people that have called me odd,sick,etc have done so after holding my babies,i didnt tell them while they were holding the babies they started rocking them,they were totally unaware of this.

I get the same reactions from people that see my babies. "That's just weird" or others think they are wonderful and appreciate the time and work that go into making them look so realistic.
I have seen some that I thought looked pretty weird myself...but those are usually people who are just beginning to learn.
One thing though that is a bit weird to me is the term "reborn baby" If you didn't know why we call them that, one might think we are taking dead babies and giving them life again.
Oh well...my opinion... when an a talented doll artist makes beautiful baby doll that looks so realistic ...well thats just talent any way you look at it!

theraputic reborns

I was glad to read you' article about the nursing homes residents .I am an RN I worked for Hospice for many years .I felt that my reborns gave me hope and a feeling of peace .Many people I tell about my reborns give me that look of "you are a wierdo".Having a reborn is the enjoyment of motherhood for me, and a recollection of a time that I enjoyed when my children were babies.Thanks to all the artist for this wonderful art.
