Question about reborning Gotz Dolls

by Denise Werer-Hansen
(Columbia, MD)

I purchased some Gotz Dolls at Tuesday Morning. They are really great dolls to reborn but I do not know what to do about the hair. It at least is an attempt by the company to root the hair but I am not sure I like it. I can get some pictures if you don't know what I mean about these dolls. They are Annika, Puppi 1, Laura, and several others all with the same type of hair. If I leave the hair on should I use the air dry paints? I don't even mind the eyes that are in these dolls but want to do better lashes and brows.

I am also not sure about the "skin" on these dolls. I have heard it referred to as silicone rather than vinyl. Will I remove the paint with acetone?

Thank you in advance for your help and let me know if you need photos.

I will probably hold on to them until I feel more confident. Would like to find someone that has done them to know what to use for paint removal etc. I would like to leave the mohair wigs on the ones that have them so might need to use the air dry paints. I see great potential in them but there must be some reason others have not tried to do them.

I have several Gotz dolls & will have to look at them as have packed away; becouse of reborning & really not sure? Sounds complicated to reborn & not sure about paint they use, but would think kit would have to be completely stripped & maybe a wig or partial wig & then root around it...did that with a doll that was poorly re borned & hair is nice & does not look like a wig...Let me know what you do; as will be interesting to hear how it goes!
