wanting to change hair also
by: Anonymous

I ordered a custom and the hair was horrible. I can't get the artist to fix because that is the best they know how to do. I am wondering how to get the existing hair out and redo the head. I hate to see a wonderful baby kit be destroyed by a bad rooting job, if anyone has suggestions please post.

WHY NOT DYE HAIR
by: ANGIE MAC

Hi there,i have colored a few of my reborns hair,if you read dyeing reborns hair on this site you will see it has been successful.I have been repairing a doll today in fact, dyed her off blond hair that i didnt like to a very soft brown./you can buy cheap colour sachets in most shops.mix the colour with half glass warm water, then gently rub in,leave for around 3 to 4 minutes, then rinse, this should not dye the vinyl as it is diluted with water,as ive said, ive done this many times and if your going to take hair off,why nor try this first, could save you a lot of hassle.

Redueing hair on reborn
by: Sherri Keller'Woo

I did this with that poorly reborned doll; China KiKi Woo that is on this site. I cut all the hair off & shaved it & sanded head a bit & put a wig & rooted around the wigs long strands of hair & less area to root around & needles went thru old glue just fine. I had washed inside of head with boiling water & there were a few ruff spots, but it worked fine. It was dark hair on an Asian baby. You can still comb it & every thing & really looked very nice.

changing reborn doll hair

You can redo it. It's a big job. First you would need to remove all the hair. Depending on the type of sealant used inside the head you could try heating it to soften the glue. If the holes from the rooting needle used are large you may find yourself with holes showing later. This can be helped somewhat by dipping the head in boiling water. ( sounds terrible I know LOL). I'd suggest using a darker color mohair and rooting more thickly and that should cover everything up fairly well.
