by tracy

HI, I'm going to attempt my first reborn doll.I have studied all the steps and read books, and watched tutorials on the internet but I am still so confused as to what order things should be done, also I am having to give my kit a blue wash using g,h,s,paints as it seems very orange , also the inside purple wash how should this be done and is it essential to do this? and how many layers of each step would people recommend, if anybody could help me out with this would be very grateful, thank you

order of painting
by: Sandy

I learned the hard way to put the basic skin color on first. If you put the veining on virgin vinyl, you can't completely remove or correct it. If you put a skin tone on first (I use GHS 08) and bake it on, then when you do the veining, it is easy to change before you bake it.

paintings done
by:

thankyou, done the painting today kept it pretty basic but im really happy with it only problem is the kit i had was only quite a cheap one being my first did not want to pay out to much, it had molded hair lines and was told i could sand these off wich i did however when i applied the blue wash it kind of stuck to the sanded head in places even though i kept the paint very very thin so now instead of a whispy look that i wanted its going to have to be a full head of hair :0(

thanks , tracy

Why don't you follow a tutorial? There are many out there. If you need some help finding one let me know.

purple wash!?
by: Beverly

Don't do that purple wash! Later on your little reborn will looked bruised. Do all the painting on the outside.
Color corection done first if fine. Everyone does it a little different. Sometimes I do it first sometimes later. It just depends on how the skin tone looks.
Veins are first takes a little pratice. I went on line and found examples of where viens were located that helped me alot.
Then start your skin tones. Keep your paint a water color consistancy very thin and you will be fine. Watch for drips when your applying your paint. Then after the skintone, creases, fingernail and toenails, ect.....and any other details you want to add. Don't forget to bake in between each layer
Good luck
