This is something that happens to the best. I take it you bought the doll and then after awhie it started getting a shine? Okay...I actually think that changing clothes on the baby...rubbing on it with the clothes can shine it up. There is something that is at Secrist called superior shine remover. You can take a little of it and dab it on the shiny places. Now I have a question to Mr. Secrist...it doesn't say to heat set it and sometimes you might just have a tiny little place that shows in pictures..that's what I'm thinking that's for..but it makes it go away for a while...or until you pick the doll up and then it wears off. Another little trick is to take something like the Mr. Clean Magic eraser and dampen it and then lightly dab/rub...softly and it puts like a finish on the doll which is very nice..but again it doesn't last.
For everyone that does reborning that reads this...I was watching D. Pratt's video and at the end, she puts the matte varnish on and bakes the 256 deg. for 8-10 min. Then she said...let it cool...and then arrange the parts so that another part is towards the open area..cool.then AGAIN one more time and that WORKS.
I bought a Lucy doll and she was beautiful...then after awhile of changing clothes and messing with her...she got the shines and also bluish marks all over her face etc. So this is a problem and I will continue with D. Pratts way and hope this will settle it for good.

Baby powder is a simple way, but I bought something called 303 Aerospace protectant & think my husband got it on ebay & spray it on vynil & wipe it off completley dry...think it helps...look up on ebay; maybe Bloomers & Bows had it...Hugs & good luck!

You can use matte finish or the shine remover (heat set if you plane to redo the doll) I'm not sure but I think you can also get the air dry that will do the same.
