How do you make the reborn baby's mouth look open?

HI!

My name is Tina and I was wondering how do you make a reborn baby's mouth look open?

I can't tell if it is cut and backed with black felt, (which I doubt) or just painted black to appear open.

Can anyone tell me? I bought this kit, and the reborn picture I saw, it's mouth looked opened and it's not.

Hello, when i make my babies... the ones that have the mouth partly open ... all it is is shading and light play (when taking the picture) ... if u have the lips a paler natural color and shade the inside of the mouth 3 times darker then the lips and blend if need you will notice it will look as though its an actual open mouth even on the babies that have the lips closed you can play on that too, just add a very fine line tracing between the lips and it will look like his or her mouth could open at any moment . my advice is never use black... it looks unnatural. the human mouth has different degrees of pinks and reds so play on that to get this effect... hope this helps... hugs
