How do you correct veins that are too dark and thick in areas?

by Talisha
(Alabama)

I am using Genesis Heat set paints and some of my veining on her head are bad. The veins are too thick and dark. They will not even fade if I wash them with the thinner. I have also tried to cover them up with layers of the flesh color. The vein blue has actually stained the vinyl if I am not mistaken. Please advise.

blue is tricky
by: Kim

It is one of the most highly pigmented colors and very hard to remove. You could try acetone on a q-tip and let it sit. I have also had success with acne medication containing benzoyl peroxide 5%. It can fade the blue - sometimes though it's literally soaked right into the vinyl. For veining in the future, make sure you are using well thinned paint and the tiniest brush you can find. You could also take an existing brush and chop off most of the bristles, leaving just one or two as veining should be delicate and almost not noticable.
Best of luck!

Removing dark veins
by: Tammy

I have had this problem before as well. You could try Goof Off, but it will take all of the paint off where you use it. Hope this helps and good luck.
The blue does stain the vinyl, so this may not work but it is worth a try.
