"Fake Baby, ugh"
I for one absolutely HATE the term "fake baby". This is a DOLL, not a "fake" infant. It frustrates me to no end to have people refer to the reborn dolls I create as a "fake baby". I constantly have to correct them, "No, this is a reborn doll, a collector's item."
Unfortunately the crazies in the world have gotten most others believing that the only ones in this business are nuts, and "need to fill an emotional void with realistic fake infants". Well, if that were true, I guess most of the men I know are still "filling emotional void's" or "lingering over their childhood" with their model trains, planes, baseball, basketball and racing collections.
(And what does this say about knife and gun collectors?)
We, as human beings, have a fondness for collecting articles, and little momentos that we feel have some emotional tie to our past, or what we once wished our future to be like. We constantly hoard things away, just to one day go back and pull them out and remember the fond memories they bring back.
So what is the difference between collecting dolls, model trains, racing momentos, etc? As long as it's not doing anyone any harm, I don't see any problem.
But we must always remember, there's always some idiot at a sporting event, racing event, etc, that goes nuts, and either tries to harm someone (a referee, for instance) or gets WAY to out of control, and yet the media doesn't seem to focus on those people.
I suppose there will always be at least one crazy attached to every form of passion and the sooner we all realize this the better.
Thank you for listening to my little rant,
