Can I change features using clay on a reborn doll?

I have been a doll artist for 18 years.I used to do the show scene but got side tracked with children. Now I am wanting to start reborning. I am wondering if I can combine my sculpting skills with reborning. Any info as to if this is done, if it is OK to do. thank you for any info. I have always specialized in Ethnic babies I'm so excited.
