I haven't really done any reborning yet. I'm trying to learn as much as I can first. I'm going to start with a berenguer doll with sculpted and painted hair. Do I need to sand the head smooth before I root it? Thanks for any help.

The second doll I did was a berenguer from Walmart and i sanded the head. If the molded hair is very pronounced then you should sand it. Very fine lines won't matter. Use a dremmel or other power sander as it is really slow just hand sanding. Do it outside and wear a mask. It is very messy. Be careful not to sand the face. When finished clean it quickly with acetone and then wash the head well. The color will look a bit different in the sanded area but the rooted hair will cover it. Don't sand too deep!
