What exactly are reborn dolls, you may ask? They are essentially a vinyl or silicone baby doll that is created to appear as lifelike and realistic as possible. They are an art form.

Reborning

This is an incredible artform that transforms an ordinary playtoy into what appears to be a living, breathing baby. It is a pure expression of 3D art - it can be held, dressed, groomed and loved unlike a flat painted surface.

Reborn dolls are a relatively new artform and as such, are just beginning to show up in mainstream television and magazines. There is also a lot of ignorance and opinions regarding the art of reborning. The incredible sensationalism of the art by the media , or fake babies once discovered has been disheartening. I have been personally interviewed by 2020, Maclean's Magazine, the Winnipeg Free Press and a few others, and the intent of the article was always to sensationalize the art form as being weird, unusual or disturbing. References to the appearance of 'dead babies' or 'fake babies' , or the use of realistic baby dolls to fill a a void in the doll owner, were always the intent.

This site is created by myself, a mother of four, a reborn doll artist and doll collector. I have a true love for babies, and wanted to portray in the true sense, the artform behind creating these dolls, and the incredible artists that are out there. The goal of each reborn doll artist is to create the most lifelike and realistic doll possible, thus with study, skill and continuous practice the extent of the artistry is raised.

Currently the easiest way to find a doll for purchase is through Ebay, although many artists have been seeking more personal ways to show their work and smaller auctionhouses have popped up. Other doll artists have engaged a following of loyal collectors, and others have chosen a specialty such as doing custom orders or portrait baby dolls. We have created a Reborn Baby of the Month section where artists can showcase their dolls.

It is my hope to create a website that educates, respects and showcases both the doll artists who visit, and the doll collectors who love these truly realistic dolls, as well as just the many curious people who would like a glimpse into this unusual form of expression. You will find the use of the word 'babies' here interchangeable with the word doll. We are all aware that these are dolls, and not real babies so please don't write in upset.
